{the big summer sac} Freestyle machine stitching... funky beaded embroidery...luscious, random stitching techniques that are layered on painted patchwork art quilts of altered fabric and hand-painted cloth to create a funky large tote. We will explore fabric painting and dyeing techniques including color scraping, monoprints, dyed cloth stamping, stenciling and glazing. Learn how to doodle letters, words and faces on fabric, layer fabric with hand painted transparencies and colored-dyed fabric images. Sewing machine required. view samples and supply list

Learn techniques to create black and white art for painting backrounds, journal pages and collage. We’ll discuss leveraging your art with the computer, digital camera and photocopy machine. {butterfly graffiti baubles} An art canvas wall hanging that combines the juxtaposition of beautiful garden images and urban street culture; create a mixed media art quilt with unconventional layers of deconstructed painted jeans, digital prints and painted fabrics covered with your own personal graffiti marks. The art quilt is hand sewn and embellished with a bead and bauble FIBER hanging. {DIVA fairies} Funky.fun. fantasy collage creations…DIVA Fairies are whimsical collages made from hand painted papers, fusion-dyed collage, layered with colored-dyed images. Learn a variety of monotype printmaking exercises and painted backgrounds. Experiment with paper dying recipes to create luscious backgrounds then layer them to create patchwork collage. view samples and supply list
{doodles & letters} Through a series of creative jumpstarts you will play with various writing tools to doodle and make a personal “tag” of symbols, letters and patterns. {dwell: the coffee table book} Build a coffee table visual journal that measures up to 16” x 21”. The journal cover is a painted board with a doorway cutout, which tips out to expose a personal mantra. Through a series of creative jumpstarts you will be guided to create calligraphic backgrounds, graphic typography collage, lush painted papers, the black and white pages that spill throughout this large format book. {the street market} jewels of the east...this unique, handmade book is a collection of treasured personal images, papers and findings collected from my wanderings and travels through the open-air urban markets in Southeast Asia. The signatures are made up of gritty “fusion-dyed” collage covers layered with images and words. Learn how to create interesting black and white art with sumi ink, Xeroxed patterns, handwritten text and symbols. Accents of distressed metals finish off the signatures of stained, deconstructed and texturized found papers that are bound with a funky woven and beaded macramé binding. view samples and supply list
